
American Legion Post 255 Dewayne Collins Memorial Scholarship
Dewayne Collins Sr was a man of honor, service and dedication. He answered the call to serve his country by enlisting in the US Navy in 1968. He served in Vietnam aboard the US Knox DE-1502. Upon his honorable discharge, he returned to Brainerd where he built his life centered around family, service, and community.
His passion for giving back was evident in his deep involvement with American Legion where he served both the local and district levels in various leadership roles. Dewayne dedicated countless hours volunteering with the Legion in the kitchen, helping with events, wreaths for fallen soldiers, Disabled Vets of America and Legion Riders.
Dewayne’s kindness, generosity, and unwavering support for fellow veterans and his community left an indelible mark on those who had the privilege of knowing him. His legacy of service and selflessness will always be remembered and honored.
Impact
Scholarship shall be awarded to a well-round student pursuing a four-year degree. Military family background required.
