Rachel Reabe Nystrom Memorial Scholarship
The Rachel Reabe Nystrom Memorial Scholarship honors her life and legacy – a trailblazing journalist, a ten-time Holy Land trip leader, and a dedicated Crow Wing County Commissioner for over 12-years; being only the second woman ever to hold that commissioner seat. Rachel lived a life marked by courage, joy, love, and unwavering service. Her strength was matched only by her gentleness, her determination, and by her compassion.
Rachel believed in a world where no one had to lose for others to win. She spoke bold truths with love, embraced others with warmth, and stepped toward people with curiosity rather than fear. She was a living example that leadership and empathy can go hand in hand – and that true power lies in lifting others up. This annual scholarship will be awarded to a young woman who embodies Rachel’s pioneering spirit and passion for using her voice to create change.
Impact
This annual scholarship will be awarded to a female-identifying student pursuing a career in journalism, law, public service, social work, communications or a related field where courage, integrity, and compassion are essential. The ideal candidate would also be an individual, who like Rachel, are unafraid to speak up, serve others, and lead with both strength and heart.
