Gene Sundberg Pilot's Scholarship

Gene Sundberg Pilot's Scholarship

Gene Sundberg was a graduate of Brainerd High School. He entered the military service in the Army Air Corps, first as an aerial gunner and then The Cadet Pilot Training Program during World War II. Dr. Sundberg practiced optometry in Brainerd for 42 years and was known to his patients and friends as a compassionate, caring man. He will be remembered perhaps even more for his passion of flying, which continued throughout his lifetime. Many will remember Gene and his yellow Stearman biplane doing barrel rolls and flips over our beautiful lake country.

Impact

This scholarship was established in 2002 to help students sharing Gene’s passion for flying obtain their pilot’s license.
